Thinking about trying Taekwondo for the first time? Whether you are booking for yourself, your child, or the whole family, this FAQ will help you feel prepared, confident, and ready to enjoy your first Wessex Taekwondo class.
Yes. Please contact us before your first visit so we can recommend the best class for your age, experience, and goals. You can call 01202 694 887 to check availability and ask any questions.
Yes. Your first two lessons are free, giving you the chance to try Taekwondo, meet the instructors, and see whether the classes are right for you before joining.
Wear comfortable sports clothing, such as a T-shirt with jogging bottoms or leggings. You do not need a Taekwondo uniform for your trial lessons.

Please aim to arrive around 10 minutes early. This gives you time to meet the instructor, ask questions, and settle in before class starts.
Our classes welcome children, adults, beginners, and families. We will help you choose the session that best fits the student’s age and experience.
No. Beginners are very welcome, and our instructors will guide you through the basics step by step.

No. New students are introduced gradually and safely. Contact-based activities are supervised and only introduced when appropriate for the student’s age, experience, and confidence.
Parents and carers are usually welcome to stay for a child’s first session. The instructor will let you know where to sit or wait during the class.
Yes. Classes are structured, supervised, and adapted to the age and ability of the group. Our aim is to help every student train safely, build confidence, and enjoy learning.
Taekwondo helps students develop courtesy, perseverance, self-control, respect, focus, discipline, and confidence.
That is completely normal. You do not need to be fit before you start. Training will help you improve gradually, and you can speak to the instructor before class if you have any worries, injuries, or medical considerations.
Classes are held at Wessex Taekwondo’s purpose-built facility in Parkstone, Poole. Please confirm the venue and arrival details when booking your first class.

No. Comfortable sports clothing is fine for your first lessons. If you decide to continue, we will explain when to buy a uniform and whether any protective equipment is needed.
If you enjoy your trial lessons, speak to the instructor about membership, the best class to attend next, training frequency, uniform, and how gradings work.
