Taekwondo Tots
Children aged 4 to 7 are warmly welcomed into Taekwondo Tots, a fun, non-contact introduction to taekwondo designed especially for younger children who are not yet ready for standard classes. Through play-based activities and games, children build confidence, coordination, and the foundations of martial arts in a safe and encouraging environment.

Why Parents Love Taekwondo Tots
Children learn the core values of taekwondo from their very first session: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. The lessons learned in class naturally carry over into home life, friendships, and school readiness.
Sessions are themed around play-based activities and games rather than strict training, with no sparring or contact of any kind. Everything is designed to keep young children moving, smiling, and learning. Each session prepares children for progression into our mainstream taekwondo classes, and upon completing the Taekwondo Tots journey, children graduate ready to take their first steps on the taekwondo grading ladder.

Grading and Belt Progression
Taekwondo Tots follows a structured, reward-based grading system built around 4 month cycles. Children progress through a rotating curriculum designed to keep young learners engaged while steadily building their skills and confidence.
Gradings are positive and confidence-building, with children working towards milestones using striped belts. Each grading celebrates effort and progress, and parents are often amazed at what their children can achieve.
The Taekwondo Tots belt progression runs from White through Purple, Orange, Yellow, Green, Brown, Red, and Black, each paired with a white tag to distinguish them from the mainstream belt pathway. Upon completing the Taekwondo Tots journey, children progress into our mainstream taekwondo classes at Yellow Belt level, giving them a valuable head start on the grading ladder.
“My son Will has been training at Wessex Taekwondo for almost four years. In that time he has grown in confidence and gained a wealth of experience and knowledge. He loves going to class each week and never likes to miss a session.”
